Frequency Hearing is owned and operated by Alissa Horneland, and our small team will make sure your first visit (and every visit after) is informative, comfortable and contributes to healthier hearing.

Owner and Registered Hearing Aid Practitioner

Alissa started Frequency Hearing to share the incredible benefits that hearing care can offer to individuals and their families. 

After experiencing hearing loss in her immediate family, Alissa was inspired by the attentive and dedicated care that her family received from their hearing health professionals. She decided to go into hearing care to provide the same type of care that helped her family. 

Alissa graduated from the Hearing Aid Practitioner Program at MacEwan University in 2011 and is certified with both the National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences (NBC-HIS) and the College of Hearing Aid Practitioners of Alberta (CHAPA).

Her career is centred on changing lives by understanding hearing challenges and finding the best solutions. Alissa has worked and volunteered at hearing awareness seminars and drop-in centres around Edmonton, and she continues to promote the importance of treating hearing loss in Beaumont and beyond.


At Frequency Hearing, Alissa oversees every aspect of operations and hearing services. Everyone that visits Frequency Hearing will receive the compassionate care that Alissa is known for. 


Dr. Raeanne G. Rowswell, Registered Audiologist at Frequency Hearing

Registered Audiologist

Dr. Rowswell obtained her Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree from A.T. Still University: Arizona School of Health Sciences. She currently works as a private audiology consultant for several organizations and is a sessional instructor at MacEwan University. She is registered with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). She holds membership with Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) and the Alberta Association of Audiologists (AAofA).

Before moving to Alberta, Dr. Rowswell worked in Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut in public health and hospital settings. She has extensive clinical experience and has worked with multicultural populations. 
During her career, Dr. Rowswell developed an interest in hearing health care education, noise-induced hearing loss, and cerumen management. As a private audiology consultant, Dr. Rowswell provides direction for policy development and decision-making related to hearing loss and amplification benefits. She is currently involved with ACSLPA and Alberta Health Services to standardize pediatric amplification practices. 

Beaumont has been home to Dr. Rowswell and her family for the past seventeen years, so she is familiar with the com munity and its residents. At Frequency Hearing, Dr. Rowswell's role is to provide audiology services, cerumen removal, and hearing health care education.
